calming hues
- after a thin layer of your desired essie base coat, polish half of the nail in don’t burst my bubble
- working quickly, polish the other half of the nail in it’s high time. the two colors should meet vertically in the middle nail. it’s ok if they blend slightly. let the polish dry
- polish the same design onto a cosmetic wedge and, quickly, tap the sponge atop of the polished nail. tap the sponge ever so slightly left and right to blend the two colors in the middle to create an ombré. finish with your favorite glossy essie topcoat
textured bubbly
- after a coat of your desired essie basecoat, apply one coat of feel the fizzle to all nails
- to polish the bubble "pop" effect, with a fine detail brush dipped in in the you-niverse, polish 8 small dashes in a circle, similar to a flower motif. leave space in the middle
- repeat step 2 with a slightly smaller burst with ride the soundwave. finish with a burst of only 4 dashes using you're scent-sational. apply your favorite glossy essie topcoat
vibrant stripes
- with a thin detail brush dipped in you're scent-sational, polish a curved line from the top left corner of the nail to the bottom right side.
- using the same brush, polish a similar curved line from the bottom left to the top right using shade push play.
- fill in the bottom right area of the nail with push play. repeat this step, filling in the top of the nail with you're scent-sational. fill in the empty triangle to the right of the nail using the same detail brush dipped in grass never greener.

what color trends are you most excited for this spring/ summer 2023?
i always love it when a controversial shade is trending. yellow is one of those shades people love to hate and, as an artist, i love to find new ways for people to love conflicting colours. yellow isn’t just buttery or dandelion. it can be a deep and nuanced – think honey or amber. this is the year to find the yellow that works for you. i’m also excited for the return of a bright and unapologetic pink. like yellow, some have their apprehensions about pink, but it’s going to be everywhere this year! if you’re not into a soft warm “tender” pink, opt for a punk, blue-toned “barbiecore” pink.
what nail art trends are you most excited for this spring/ summer 2023?
we’re going to be leaning more into minimal, subtle detail-based nail art in the spring and summer. we’ve had a few seasons of dizzying y2k prints, but i’m excited to see what this trend looks like with the volume turned down. more sporty stripes, intentional jewel placement and chrome effects.
any nail care essentials/tips you want to share?
warm weather tends to be kindest to our skin and nails. less breakage, more hydration and our nails tend to grow faster. that doesn't mean, however, that nail care is forgotten. nail and cuticle oils are always essential for nail health. application couldn’t be easier with our new “on a roll” apricot cuticle oil. it’s easy to throw in your bag for on to go touch ups and provides a perfectly measured amount of product to your nails. lastly, never forget, always apply sunscreen to your hands!
what nail shapes are in style?
while medium to medium long nails are still popular, we’re going to see a return to shorter, soft square nails. they’re low maintenance and great if you want to wear a bold and striking nail colour. if you’re going to wear a long nail, opt for oval or almond shapes. it’s softer and adds a bit of elegance to long nails.
